10 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Your Sheet Mask

Sheet-masking is a great way to feel extra special and have a self-love moment. However, there a few tips and tricks to get the most from your sheet mask. Here is our list of 12 things your should be doing to maximise the benefits of your sheet mask.
1. Massage it in, to boost absorption
A great way to help your skin care products absorb better into your skin is to massage them in. You could use a facial massager or jade roller on top of your sheet mask. This helps to push all the ingredients into the skin, boost circulation and is a great way to de-stress your facial muscles. Don’t have a fancy facial massager? Use your fingers – gently pat or tap them over top of the sheet mask.
2. Properly Cleanse + Exfoliate First
The best way to allow optimum absorption into your skin is to only apply the mask to properly cleansed skin, that is free from excess oils, moisturiser, sunscreen and makeup. All of these products can act as a barrier, which prohibit absorption of the sheet mask nutrients. After cleansing, gently exfoliate your skin to remove any build-up of dead skin cells. 3. Put It In The Right Place (in your skin care routine)
Most people are not sure about where to place a sheet mask in their skincare routine. As mentioned above it is super important to properly cleanse first and double-cleanse if removing sunscreen and or makeup. After that make sure to tone your skin and apply the mask while your skin is still moist from the previous products. This enhances your skin's absorption.
4. Longer Isn’t Better
Don’t leave your mask on for more than 25 minutes. If left on too long, the mask can actually start to re-absorb some of the moisture from your skin (effectively dehydrating it) and we definitely don’t want that. Never sleep with a sheet mask on either!
5. Seal In The Moisture
Once you’ve completed your sheet mask session, be sure to follow up with a good eye cream and facial moisturiser to seal in all the hydration and ingredients your skin just sucked up from your mask. 6. Check The Ingredients
You should always check the ingredients in your sheet mask to ensure what’s in the mask will benefit any skin issues you may have (and not aggravate others!). For example:

7. Use One Before An Event For Glowing Skin

Apply a sheet mask while you’re preparing for a special occasion and prepare for radiant skin you can see from space.
8. Flip Your Sheet Mask + Wring It Out
Sheet masks are pretty much too sided, so flip the mask and put it back on before you remove it to get all the serum from the other side. You can also wring out your sheet mask gently to remove any serum that hasn’t fully absorbed into the skin yet and apply it directly to your face, neck or chest with your hands. Or apply the other side of the sheet mask to your neck. And don’t forget the package! 9. Put It In The Fridge
Skin can become irritated from red from time to time. A great way to get some extra cooling and de-puffing action from your mask is to pop it in the fridge. Then apply to your skin for a refreshing, cooling sensation, which also helps to reduce puffiness.
10. Enjoy It!
